Early Reading Phonics Parent Workshop

Our phonics learning

In Reception, we introduce phonics to children through a synthetic and systematic Phonics Programme called Sounds Write.

Here are some videos which explain the pronunciation of each letter sound and some of the important skills used within early reading.

Blending is an important skill which young children use to help them sound and read decodable words. This video explains the process of blending. You can support your child to develop this skill by using sound talk at home. For example, you could say "It is time to b-r-u-sh your teeth" or "let's go to the p-ar-k".
