Our focus this term is 'giving and kindness' and children will be completing activities around these themes including defining what kindness is, how kindness effects others and how kindness effects yourself.
In English children will be working on their new sounds. They will be learning how to blend sounds for reading and segment sounds for spelling. The children have been focusing on sentence construction and using punctuation. Reading is really important to us and children have been reading lots of books in class. They are working hard to earn points for our 'Mad Hatter's' home reading reward scheme so don't forget to sign your child's reading record when you read with your child. Please read with your children as often as you can manage, it really makes a huge difference to your child's progress.

In maths this term children will be improving their knowledge and understanding of shape and place value.
In Geography this term the children will be investigating the four countries of the UK to enable them to answer the question 'Where in the world do I live?' Children will name, locate and identify characteristics of the four countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom and its surrounding seas.
In science children are learning about animals including humans. They will be comparing animals and their diets, naming parts of their body an investigating their senses.
In PE children will be learning the skills needed to play badminton. These include: hitting the shuttlecock hard and soft, changing direction, and jumping safely. Please ensure your child has a full PE kit including trainers or plimsoles. For the foreseeable future PE lessons can only take place outside therefore it would also be a good idea to put a dark coloured pair of jogging bottoms and a dark sweat shirt in your child's PE bag.
